18 November, 2020 My dear Parishioners, We are nearing that most wonderful time of the year that really gets kicked off with All Saint’s Day. Since All Saints, I have noticed an increase in the number of people at Mass, inside and in the parking lot. God willing we can continue this trend of coming back to Mass. But please remember, if you don’t feel safe, please be at peace. God is big and knows where you live. He makes house calls.
The online Masses will continue. According to Vimeo alone, 3,284 plus viewings happened last month, and I am estimating another 175-250 from Website and Facebook daily viewings. So it is reaching our brothers and sisters who are not able to come to Mass.
Because of the limited capacity in the Church and Hall during this Covid reality, I desire to provide as many opportunities for you to come to Christmas Mass. Here is the new Christmas Eve and Day Mass Schedule.
This year, we are allowed to add a Mass before 4:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve. So, I will celebrate on Christmas Eve the following:
2:00 p.m. We will designate the parking lot between the Hall and the Church for outside seating (bring your own chairs). If weather permits, I will celebrate Mass outside. The inside seating of the Church will be available as well, but please let’s try to keep the 2:00 p.m. inside seating for the elderly singles and the elderly couples. Again, if it is bad weather, Mass will be in Church only.
4:00 p.m. (In the Church and Father Breaux in the Hall)
6:00 p.m. (In the Church and Father Breaux in the Hall)
Christmas Day I will add a 7:00 a.m. Mass and the regular 9:00 a.m. Mass.
THERE WILL BE NO CHRISTMAS NIGHT 5:15 PM MASS.
Of course, for all the Masses, except the 7:00 a.m. Mass on Christmas Day, Mass will be broadcast in the parking lot with Holy Communion as usual.
One exciting thing is we will have an Advent Afternoon of Reflection with Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. This will happen on the First Sunday of Advent, 29 November, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Father Donald Bernard, Parochial Vicar of St. Mary Magdalen Church in Abbeville will lead it.
I really encourage you to be part of this. All four Church sections will be open and it will be broadcast outside as well. Sit in your cars if you feel uncomfortable coming into Church.
If you can’t participate in that, please do try to do something “extra” for Advent. Lord knows we have been through so many challenges already, but we are here, standing together with those on earth and those in heaven.
By the way, we are planning a Food Drive. Details will be forthcoming.
Below are the collection results since the last letter to you. Thank you and if I don’t get to see you for Thanksgiving Eve Mass on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., Happy Thanksgiving and much love.
